DTASC

The Drama Teachers Association of Southern California (DTASC) hosts well-regarded theatre competitions in the fall and spring.  Over fifty regional high schools are invited to compete in these prestigious competitions and Samohi Theatre students routinely receive high honors.  We’ve taken first place in several categories over the years!

Students interested in participating in DTASC competitions should contact Kate at kbarraza@smmusd.org and watch for notices about DTASC auditions. Samohi typically enters at between 20-40 students for each competition. Students must commit to attending additional practices after school and will work with a professional acting coach in addition to working with Ms. Barraza.

Samohi Theatre is a top-tier, award-winning high school drama program committed equally to diversity and excellence.

The mission of the Santa Monica High School Theatre Department is to provide Samohi students with opportunities to develop their acting, singing, dancing, musical and technical theater skills, through rigorous coursework, live performances, and high quality stage productions. The program strives to be inclusive, build community, and take risks to address relevant social issues through theatre.
